S.O.A.P.

Jim Stoten is bringing his technical genius to Gallery Seven with a new show entitled Studies of Another Place or S.O.A.P. for short.

The new work is about looking at the world through his eyes. It's a personal exhibition, both reflexive and escapist in equal measures, and it investigates his role as artist, his place in the illustrated world he wants to create and how the two inform and guide each other.

It's a bit of a break from the norm for Jim. If you've seen his work before you'll be expecting complex, highly-detailed, multi-angle illustrated fun fests. Ok, expect some of the same. But Jim has embraced the spirit of Gallery Seven and is pushing his own boundaries by trying his hand at collage. We like the results. We think you will too.

The show opens to the public on Friday August 21st.

Maxwell Paternoster's The 1974 Yearbook of Science and the Future is well and truly open to the public.

Thanks to all those who came to see us at the private view. Hopefully you had as much fun as we did.

New Show Opens June 19

Rejoice.

The hugely talented Maxwell Paternoster has agreed to create a show just for us and it's going to be something really quite good. The title? The 1974 Yearbook of Science and the Future: Chapter 6 - Waste [draft].

The title might be a bit of a mouthful, but it's worth the effort I'm sure you'll agree. The show takes its inspiration from a book of a very similar name and more importantly from our relationship with technology down the years.

Maxwell looks back at what we were thinking when we were looking forward, our apsirations and our fears, and asks two simple questions: how close did we come to our ideal and who picked up the bill? He'll be looking at the byproducts of our efforts, the waste and the wires, and taking things from there.

If you're familiar with Maxwell's work you'll know what to expect. If not, expect to lose hours of your life in the complex and hugely detailed illustrations.

The show is open to the public from June 19.   

Hannah Melin show re-scheduled.

Due to unavoidable circumstances, we are going to be collaborating with the wonderful Hanna Melin a little later this year. The show on the 21st of May is therefore cancelled.
